Fake news is a form of news consisting of deliberate disinformation or hoaxes spread via traditional news media or online social media. These stories are often not true or leave out important details that are useful to readers.

- Determine where to get your news? Is it online only? Is it newspaper? It is word of mouth? Newspapers are filled with research and offers a way to understand news as it happens.
- Avoid gossip sites. Take a moment to look closely at the sites you visit.
- Be careful what you share. We want to stress this one. Before you click share, retweet or any of those things, get an idea of what is true. A simple Google search will often lead you to the truth.
