At Connect The Dots, we enjoy a good basketball game. College level yes – high school level – bring it on. Professional – you bet. The game is usually thrilling, fun and fast paced and every once in a while you witness a major victory and can brag about your team for weeks.
As the All Star Game gets underway, we decided to share a few ways you can brand like an All Star, minus the shoe and credit card endorsements.
Create and share a Highlight Reel
Create a portfolio, social media presence, or resume that highlights your “all star moments.” Think of it as your personal hype reel—include key accomplishments, testimonials, and any media coverage or milestones that demonstrate who you are. Don’t be shy. Share the information and allow people to discover more about you. Next…..
Work your Game Plan
Athletes don’t just show up—they prepare. They are in the gym, eating healthy and hire people to help them. Similarly, build a strategy surrounding your brand. Define your goals, your audience, and the message you want to convey. Then hire people to help push your message. Perhaps, that’s a social media manager, an assistant or a trusted coach that can help you score big. That could also mean posting on a regular basis or updating photos.
Show Up Ready to Perform
Are you familiar with the phrase, if you stay ready you don’t have to get ready? That’s true. When the spotlight’s on, All-Star athletes deliver. Be ready for your opportunities—whether it’s a presentation, a meeting, or an event. Plan ahead and show up for yourself. Have your notes, charts, graphs, examples or speaking points ready. You want to be ahead of the game, not behind.
What would you add to the list? How are you being an All Star in business?
