Why knowing the difference saves you money, time and energy.

There’s a difference between PR, Advertising and Marketing.
Public Relations (PR) often focuses on media relations, but it can include external relationships such as community relations and public affairs. Both of those are their own niche with specific functions, as well.
Advertising is the practice and techniques employed to bring attention to a product or service. Advertising aims to present a product or service in terms of utility, advantages, and qualities of interest to consumers.
Marketing is the act of acquiring, satisfying and retaining customers. It is one of the primary components of business management and commerce. Marketing is usually conducted by the seller, typically a retailer or manufacturer. Products can be marketed to other businesses or directly to consumers.
Instead of saying “I need PR”, tell the person what you want to achieve and your vision.
You might actually need something else that does not fall under PR.
Selling tickets to an event, helping you sell 200 books by Friday or creating a commercial is not PR.
Marketing covers strategies, activities, or methods that a brand uses to communicate with potential customers.
PR creating conversations around your brand with the media and public.
Advertising is paid promotion designed to persuade someone to buy your product or service. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marketing
