Disclaimer: I am not a web designer. I simply like high quality websites. Now, that we have gotten that out of the way let’s talk websites. With so many people clicking, liking, sharing and snapping content daily, your website has to be top notch. Think about what you like about websites and add that same flair to yours.
- Talk human to me – unless you are speaking to a hyper-focused group, drop the jargon. Speak in plain English. Share your thoughts and ideas in a way that produces results. Speak in a manner that will cause customers to want to use your services, purchase your book or rent your venue. Keep it simple. Create a list of questions or topics that people want to know about and highlight it on your site.
- Visuals – most people take at least one photo a day of something they see. Capture speaking engagements, etc as they happen and place them online. We live in a culture that believes, if it is not on social media, it did not happen. Speaking of social media….
- Get Social – the average social media user is on five platforms and guess what? You don’t have to be. If your target audience is on Facebook, stay there. LinkedIn stay there. Twitter or Instagram, stay there and perfect it.
- Offer proof- did you teach a class, appear on a talk show or served on a panel? If so, highlight that on your website.
