How long has it been since you’ve written a media release? What do you include? Media Releases are a good way to attract eyes to website or event.
Keep in mind you are writing for an audience. People that may or may not know your history and people that have limited time to spend on reading your release.
Before you press send, consider these two things to add to your release.
- Numbers – people like numbers. If your event draw 10,000 people last year or saved 100 lives because of a swim class, share those numbers.
- Make it human – use quotes to highlight the media release. For instance, if an artist is releasing new work and has a tie to the community – share it!
There are plenty of things you can add to make your release a standout – including, checking for errors, keeping it shorter than two pages, reducing jargon and writing in an engaging way.
